China University of Petroleum Has Developed A New Technology For Surface Treatment Of Titanium Alloy
Recently, the surface engineering team of the School of Materials Science and Technology of China University of Petroleum (East China) has made a major breakthrough in the field of surface treatment technology.The “Key technologies and applications of wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant and friction-reducing surface treatment” project developed by it won the 2023 China-China university-research cooperation innovation achievement award, marking that the team has reached the international advanced level in the surface treatment technology of key materials such as #titanium alloys.
With the continuous development of industrial technology, the requirements for material properties are also increasing day by day.Although traditional machining methods can improve the performance of parts to a certain extent, it is still difficult to meet actual needs in complex and harsh working environments.As a technical means that can simultaneously maintain the inherent characteristics of the matrix material and give the surface the required properties, surface treatment technology has become the key to improving material properties.
Under the leadership of Professor Han Bin and Professor Cao Ning, the surface engineering team of China University of Petroleum (East China) conducted in-depth research on wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant and friction-reducing technology.They combined laser surface modification assistance, new pretreatment enhancement, ion nitriding/sulfur infiltration of new infiltration agents, solid carburizing and other technologies to successfully develop a complete set of surface engineering technologies.This technology can not only effectively solve the problem of wear and corrosion under different working conditions, but also significantly extend the service life of parts and components, and provide strong support for the localization replacement of related technologies and the quality and efficiency improvement of enterprises.
In practical applications, the laser surface modification assisted ion nitriding/sulfur infiltration composite treatment technology developed by the team has played an important role in the technological innovation of surface strengthening of products and components such as oil drill pipes and oil pumps.The parts processed by this technology have reduced the coefficient of friction by 30.9% and the wear resistance has been increased by 3 times, so that the working time of the plunger pump has been increased from the original 1,000 hours to more than 3,000 hours.The technology has been widely used in Shandong Plateau Oil and Gas Equipment Co., Ltd. and other enterprises, with new sales of RMB¥700 million and new profits of RMB¥150 million in the past 3 years.
